A slightly rocky start to my first ever Reading. When would I ever learn that Moshpits And Me Don’t Mix?
The Pet Shop Boys are where everything begins for me, when it comes to music. I don’t remember the exact date, but it was some time in the middle of 1988 that I borrowed my mum’s cassette of “Actually”, and suddenly, music became the most important thing in […]
Day two of V97, and my plan was to return to see a couple of my faves: Placebo and headliners the Prodigy. However, things did not quite go as I’d intended, and the day turned out to be something of a Festival Learning Experience.

All the gigs of my life: Gig 17 – Suede, Wednesday, June 25, 1997, Ilford Island (“Filmstar” video shoot)
I don’t have a ticket stub for this gig, as this was not a ticketed gig. This was a special invitation from Suede’s fanclub to be a part of the filming of the video for “Filmstar”. And it was a joyously, dementedly wonderful night.

I’ve been away from the gigging life for a few months due to ill health, but last night, I was BACK! It may have been a half hour acoustic set in a cramped and stuffy record store, but it was still a gig, and much more importantly, it […]
Happy 50th birthday to this incredible icon. Kylie’s music has been a part of my life since I became a music fan in the late 80s. I must confess that at the time, I didn’t quite appreciate her wonderfulness. It pains me to admit that I was a massive music […]
All the gigs of my life: Gig 15 – Manic Street Preachers / Mansun, Saturday, May 24, 1997, Nynex Arena, Manchester
Exactly 21 years ago today, I went to my very first gig at the Manchester Arena. It was a truly monumental night, with my two favourite bands in the world on the same bill: Manic Street Preachers and Mansun.
