A fierce and fantastic set from Ride at the start of a historic week for the country.

This was the final night of the Manics’ Forever Delayed tour in December 2002. And it just happened to be one of the best nights of my life.
The second night of 2002’s Christmas Manics weekend. A much smaller venue, and a much grumpier Wire.
I last saw Suede at the Hammersmith Apollo just over a year ago, an utterly fantastic gig which left me itching to see them again as soon as possible.
Christmas 2002. The most wonderful time of the year, and the most wonderful time to be a Manics fan.
In October 2002, a massive change had come into my life – I was back studying at university part time.
My fourth time seeing the Pet Shop Boys, and a more muted version of the band than usual – but still a wonderful night.
t was June 2002, and nine long months had passed since my last gig – my longest gap between gigs since I’d arrived in London nearly six years previously.
The three Manics gigs I went to in 2001 are all memorable for reasons other than the music.
In my personal music mythology, Ride are hugely important. When “Leave Them All Behind” crashed into my dimly lit bedroom in Perth in early 1992, it changed the whole musical landscape for 17 year old me.
